- ›1. Site measurement and material order — we measure every wall and ceiling, account for waste, and order the correct thickness and type.

- ›3. Hang horizontally — board is hung horizontally on walls with staggered seams. Horizontal hanging puts the strongest dimension of the sheet against gravity and reduces seam length by 25 percent versus vertical hanging.
- ›4. Tape — paper tape on flats and inside corners, metal corner bead on outside corners. We use setting-type compound for tape coat because East Texas humidity slows premixed mud.
- ›5. Three-coat mud system — tape coat, fill coat, and finish coat, with progressively wider knives (6", 10", 12") and feathered edges 12 to 16 inches past the seam.
- ›6. Sand to Level 4 or Level 5 — pole sanders for flats, hand sanding for corners. Level 4 is standard for textured walls. Level 5 includes a full skim coat for smooth-finish walls with semi-gloss or gloss paint.
- ›7. Primer — drywall primer-sealer to equalize the absorption between mud and paper. Skipping primer causes 'photographing' where mud joints show through finish paint.
